Low Impact Development Roundtables
A Consensus-Building Project in Greenville and Pickens Counties
Upstate Forever has initiated a Low Impact Development Roundtable project in Greenville and Pickens counties as part of the Saluda-Reedy Watershed project. In addition to the detailed assessment of local ordinances governing all aspects of paving in new developments, Upstate Forever has begun meeting one-on-one with a wide range of community leaders to discuss participation in the procss. The eventual goal will be to produce a consensus set of specific recommendations for introducing flexibility into paving standards in Greenville and Pickens counties and in their respective municipalities.
The Saluda-Reedy Watershed Consortium has released a major report on opportunities for reducing impervious cover by modifying development standards in Greenville and Pickens counties and their respective municipalities. The report offers an in-depth look at the issues covered on this page, and includes an “audit” of all related ordinances in both counties.
